Our mission is to
promote language learning, encourage cultural awareness, and help
establish global friendships
We have been bringing people
together from many walks of life and various parts of our world
for the past 15 years, by offering cross-cultural
homestays to international visitors to the Bay Area. ESI,
which is located in the San Francisco Bay Area has a diverse
network of experienced homestay hosts who are committed
to our mission. Most of our hosts are involved in the
international community in a variety of ways.
Our emphasis is on cultural
exchange. We are extremely proud of the many, long-lasting
friendships that our hosts and visitors have formed over the
years. Susan
Svensson, founder of ESI and former exchange student, started
offering homestay services in 1994 for ELS Language Centers in
Oakland. Due to popular demand, she expanded her homestay
business to serve the needs of additional clients who requested
homestay services.
