What
is a Homestay?
| A homestay in
the United States offers you the memorable experience of living
and learning with an American host. By living with an American
host, you practice English in the most meaningful context -
real life. Since 1994, ESI has placed over 1,600 visitors
who have come to study, work as an intern, or work on
professional assignments. |

Hosts
|
Hosts welcome you
as a guest and family member. We personally screen
and interview all homestay hosts and living arrangements before
placing a student or professional in a home.
Our homestay host
network reflects the diversity of the East Bay community and
includes couples with children, couples without children,
single parents, and single hosts. |
Accommodations
|
You will have your
own private, furnished room with a bed, desk/table, chest of
drawers, and a shared bath. All homestays include 14
meals a week, a continental breakfast and a prepared dinner.
The dinner hour provides a great opportunity to visit with your
hosts and practice English. Most homestays provide
internet access via DSL or some other high-speed connection;
however, in some cases you may need a wireless card. |
Services

arrival, you will have the opportunity to meet your Homestay

with your homestay, you will be moved one time to another
homestay at no extra charge. |
